KOOYONGKOOT CREEK MURAL

Bialik Collage Hawthorn

Taking inspiration from the nearby creek, walking trails and observations shared by students in co-design sessions, the mural is made of stylised shapes and colour referencing the arches from an old bridge, native elements including rocks, grasses, flowers and foliage, movement of water running through creeks and patterns from tree branches, supersized bird tracks and markings that appeared on the found from water erosion over the years. The final result was a successful project that transformed the dull stairwell into a lively wonderland.

Completed during artist in residency at Bialik Collage.
